I enjoyed this talk by @rwg from IETF about the standardization of #activitypub.

one thing it reminded me of is that I've never apologized publicly to @cwebber @tsyesika and @rhiaro for this traumatic experience. As co-chair, I should have not have let this get so bad for you. I wanted AP to exist so bad, I didn't pay attention to how hard it was for you. You all told me how much it sucked at the time, and I cajoled you to push on just a little farther. That was wrong. I'm sorry.

@tsyesika @rhiaro Ultimately standardizing AP was one of the most important things I ever did in my life.

I think there was a lot we could have done to make the process less stressful and traumatic. I definitely don't put blame on you in that you weren't the source of the stress. I am glad we got to work together. ❤

You may recall that I was also among those who were negatively affected by the group's dynamics and wanted to drop off. Sunk costs. It was tough, though we joked about calling ourselves the 'anti-social web wg.'

I took a short break instead (as per @sandro 's suggestion). In hindsight, glad I did b/c that helped me regain my emotional bandwidth and keep my focus on AP/AS2 and developing LDN (w/ @rhiaro). I empathize w/ anyone who may not have had the same possibility for any reason.

thanks for sharing that. Really interesting talk.

Feels like all of the interesting developments on the Internet in my ~30 year career have come from the geeks following their interests (or at least solving their needs) ambivalent to the commercial/corporate aspect.

If we had UBI or similar, just think how many more interesting avenues would be pursued!

and some good discussion afterwards. The push and pull between IETF and W3C is kind of fascinating.
