This is how much personal information you give away when you 'like' a Facebook page

A short film highlighting the risk of fraud on social media shows how much personal information can be obtained about a person each time they like a Facebook page. People in the street were asked to ‘like’ a coffee shop’s Facebook page in exchange for a free coffee and croissant. As the customer waited for their drink, a team of background researchers searched across public websites to find out as much personal information about the person as possible within three minutes.
and sometimes you don't even have to like them yourself, as we have recently learned.

While the film is funny, I think it gives the totally wrong advice:
Set your privacy settings.

By adjusting privacy settings, maybe the coffee shop cannot get all your personal information, but Facebook itself and their paying or non-paying (governmental) customers still can, as can hackers, that may bypass this magic settings.

The right advice is:
Do not give Facebook or similar companies any personal data in the first place.
