Free Software and Open Source - these are the topics of FrOSCon (Free and Open Source Software Conference). As every year in late summer the computer science department of the University of Applied Sciences Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, supported by the "Linux/Unix User Group Sankt Augustin" (LUUSA) and FrOSCon e.V. will organize an exciting program with talks and workshops for visitors of all ages. The event is topped off with a fair of booths from FLOSS projects and companies. The social event, celebrated at Saturday night, offers the opportunity to exchange opinions with other visitors, speakers or volunteers. We host the conference for the eigth time, at the 24th and 25th of August 2013.

Mit der KDE Software Compilation 4.11 haben die KDE-Entwickler ein großes Update für ihre Desktop-Umgebung veröffentlicht. Die KDE-PIM-Suite Kontact wurde mit neuen Funktionen ausgestattet, die Performance verbessert.
Auch mehr als zwei Monate nach Beginn der Enthüllungen über die totale Kommunikationsüberwachung ist weder das ganze Ausmaß noch ein Ende absehbar. Die wichtigsten Berichte über die Ereignisse bis dato hat heise online erneut zusammengefasst.
Entgegen der Aussage des Kanzleramtsministers Pofalla hält die SPD die NSA-Überwachungsaffäre keinesfalls für beendet. Dagegen möchte sich die Union im Wahlkampf nun anderen Themen zuwenden.
