I think it has some really intersting points and mostly I agree with it. Yesterday I came across another interesting blog post by Lennart Poettering which is explaining some myths about systemd.

Since we first proposed systemd for inclusion in the distributions it has been frequently discussed in many forums, mailing lists and conferences. In these discussions one can often hear certain myths about systemd, that are repeated over and over again, but certainly don't gain any truth by constant repetition. I haven't done much with systemd yet, but his points sound reasonable and as a sysadmin I can understand it good and would like to have some of these features, too. But I think it is really a more philosophically question and I am quite ambivalent. I really love #Slackware for its #KISS principles and use it since many years because of this. But I also like working with #SELinux, #Kerberos and I also see some benefits for systemd.

It is also intersting to look at developments like #TYPO3 #Flow with a very strong Convention over configuration pattern which is also following KISS principles actually.

Changing names again in the TYPO3 community:
#TYPO3 => TYPO3 CMS 
#FLOW3 => TYPO3 Flow 
#Fluid => TYPO3 Fluid

Let's see if they will reveal the final name for Phoenix at T3CON12DE this week.

Now it is only missing to brand TYPO3 as the community as #KDE did it some time back.

Just found the #TYPO3 extension sf_yubikey. This extension lets you use a #YubiKey for a two-factor #OTP #authentication to the TYPO3 backend! 

The YubiKey is a physical USB-key from yubico. I got to know about this YubiKey on a local FSFE fellowship meeting some months ago and was very impressed. It sounds so simple and interesting.
Need to check again what the status of the self-hosted YubiKey validation server is. That combination would be really nice.

These #TYPO3 #tutorial #videos are already bit old (version 4.2), but are a good introduction for editors anyway.
The biggest problem I see with such tutorial videos is that I am customize the backend and Rich Text Editor quite much for each project and only allow the features that are really needed and here they see much more that will confuse them maybe.

Barrierefreiheit per Default
Barrierefreiheit ist kein gänzlich neues Konzept in TYPO3. Die Erstellung barrierefreier Webseiten in TYPO3 war auch schon vor Version 4.7 jederzeit möglich. Die dafür erforderlichen Schritte und Konfigurationsanpassungen mussten jedoch mit jeder neuen TYPO3-Installation erneut ausgeführt werden. Ein zuweilen zeitraubendes Prozedere, das nun hinfällig geworden ist. Denn Barrierefreiheit ist mit TYPO3 Version 4.7 nun integraler Bestandteil des TYPO3 Cores und somit ab sofort in jeder Grundinstallation verfügbar und per Default aktiv. Eine echte Arbeitserleichterung nicht nur für jene, die mehr als eine TYPO3-Website auf technischer Seite pflegen.

›Government Package‹: Das Plus an Zugänglichkeit
Ab Version 4.7 steht Behörden und anderen Interessenten erstmals auch das sogenannte ›Government Package‹ zur Verfügung. Die Entwicklung des speziell auf die Bedürfnisse von Behörden-Websites zugeschnittenen Zusatzpakets wurde durch die Bundesanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung (BLE) staatlich gefördert. Als IT-Provider vieler staatlicher Einrichtungen setzt die BLE zunehmend auf TYPO3 als CMS.
Das Government Package wird zunächst nur in Deutsch erhältlich sein. Eine englische Version ist aber bereits in Planung.

Weitere Neuerungen, Detailverbesserungen und Bugfixes
TYPO3-Integratoren und Entwickler werden sich freuen. Unter anderem über das flexiblere Cache-Handling. Über die Erweiterung der Funktion stdWrap. Und über zahlreiche neue Hooks und TCA-Optionen. Ohnehin ist TYPO3 Version 4.7 gegenüber früheren Versionen deutlich schneller geworden. Möglich wurde das durch die Festlegung auf UTF-8 als einzig erlaubten Zeichensatz. Durch die Optimierung der TYPO3-Standard-Suche indexed_search, und nicht zuletzt durch das Ausdünnen des Codes.

TYPO3 – Sicherheit, Stabilität…
In eigene Sache würde ich euch gerne ein neues Projekt von mir vorstellen. Unter typo3.system-testen.de veröffentliche ich in den letzten Tagen Tutorials welche die Sicherheit, Stabilität, Performance und Qualität unseres beliebten CMS verbessern sollen. Die Projekt-Seite ist im Rahmen einer Challenge entstanden und ich bin gespannt wie diese gedeiht und blüht. Leider kommen die Beiträge im Moment sehr schleppend. Aber ihr kennt das ja sicher – nie hat man Zeit

Wenn Ihr Interesse habt, schaut einfach mal rum. Wenn ihr zusätzlich interessante Themen habt, dann freue ich mich sehr über einen Kommentar. Wenn diese in den Themenbereich des neuen Projektes passen, dann werde ich gerne recherchieren und einen passenden Beitrag veröffentlichen…
