Just starting to wrap my head around the Fediverse and ActivityPub (and I like what I'm learning and discovering), but now here comes Nostr. For a regular user who has no deep technical knowledge, I can only hope they're interoperable. I think people will reach the fatigue of constantly setting up shop on every new technology that comes up.

To me the ultimate interoperability is if we could move around with our content (not just the follow lists). That kind of portability and freedom. Is that even possible? Too much to ask?

Hello Fedi Friends!

This week I won’t be able to publish a new article for my series #TheFutureIsFederated – I’m traveling with family, moving on to a new location and I won’t have the luxury of grandparents helping out with my toddler 🥲

Next week I’m back with my family in Italy and I look forward to adding a new chapter to the series.

First I will write an addendum to the original Friendica post, showing things I didn’t have time to include (because that post took 12 minutes to read!) Expect this on or around August 22nd.

After that: #Lemmy will be in the spotlight. I’m currently testing out Lemmy and its integrations with the Fediverse… planning to publish a post about this topic on August 29th or 30th.

I had to set up a Twitter and a Threads account to promote a WordCamp.... The content/users that are recommended to you are even worse when the networks have no information about you.... I'm so glad I deleted all my Meta and Twitter accounts and hope to hand over the WordCamp accounts soon!

I'm happy to be in the #fediverse, and even happier not to have algorithmic feeds there!

Lasst das Wort Fediverse immer mal wieder in ganz normale Gespräche einfließen, wie andere die Wörter Insta, Whatsi, Facebook, X, Dingdong.

So funktioniert das mit der Verbreitung. Je öfter Dinge im Alltag genannt werden, desto mehr haben Menschen das Gefühl, dass es wichtig ist. Je mehr Vorträge und Belehrungen gehalten werden, desto mehr steigt die Ablehnung wegen Bevormundung. Ist ein Teenagerreflex, der auch bei den ganz Alten funktioniert.

A little reminder for Fediverse enthusiasts

Let the word Fediverse flow into normal conversations every now and then, like others use the words Insta, Whatsi, Facebook, X, Dingdong.

That's how it works with the spread. The more often things are mentioned in everyday life, the more people feel that it is important. The more lectures and teachings are given, the more rejection increases due to paternalism. It's a teenage reflex that also works with the very old.

Having second thoughts about creating a #Fediverse platform. Wenn ich versuche direkt über einen Profillink ein Profil zu öffnen dauert das ewig:

Wenn ich eine Erwähnung wie z. B. in dem Fall @Nike Leonhard anklicke geht es recht flott, aber eben nur weil das Profil nicht inlay, sondern direkt auf dem betreffenden Server geöffnet wird.

Und wenn ich dann auf die Idee komme die URL dieses Profils, hier z. B. https://literatur.social/@Nike_Leonhard in die Suche einzugeben, habe ich das Profil innerhalb von zwei, drei Sekunden inlay vor mir.

Suche ich btw. direkt nach dem Profil, kann es sein das es gar nicht gefunden wird.

Woher kommt da der doch riesige zeitliche Unterschied?
